ASPSA Internship Program
The ASPSA Internship Program is an intensive year-long internship designed to prepare aspiring new professionals in the field of academic support for student-athletes for full-time positions in the field at the end of the internship experience. This is done through a variety of responsibilities and experiences, including learning and applying NCAA, ACC and NC State continuing eligibility rules for student-athletes as well as developing academic plans for individual students. The ASPSA staff also facilitates professional development and growth opportunities for interns throughout the year. The ultimate goal for interns is to develop and/or increase proficiency in key skills necessary to obtain and excel in a full-time position in the area of academic support for student-athletes.
The internship runs from late June to mid-May and follows an intentional timeline to allow interns the opportunity to not only be exposed to, but also gain significant experience in various areas. These areas include registration advising, continuing eligibility review, event planning/special projects, teaching an orientation course, and monitoring academic progress throughout a semester.
“There is so much talent in every person that I got the chance to work with at NC State. If you want to go far in this business, this is the best place to be.” -Carrie Drake, former ASPSA Intern and current Director of Academic Support for Student-Athletes at Gardner-Webb University
