Spring 2018 ASPSA Graduation Breakfast
On Saturday, May 12, we celebrated over 90 graduating student-athletes at our annual ASPSA Graduation Breakfast. The breakfast is held every spring and fall prior to the large commencement in PNC Arena. Staff, coaches, family and friends celebrated the successes of NC State student-athletes.
Perry Ramsey, volleyball, and Derya Pekari, rifle, emceed the event. Coaches and academic advisors presented the graduates with the coveted student-athlete sashes. Director of Athletics Dr. Deborah Yow addressed the crowd acknowledging the student-athletes’ dedication and accomplishments.
Julius Duchscherer, men’s soccer, gave the student-athlete reflection. Duchscherer reflected on his decision to come to NC State as an international student from Germany and stated, “I looked at it this way. In any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety. I decided to step forward, like all of you did.” He commented that he is deeply grateful for all the people he met, the relationships formed, the memories made, and how proud he is to consider himself to be part of the Wolfpack family.
Congratulations to the Class of 2018! It has been an honor to watch you grow over the past few years and we can’t wait to see what you all Think & Do next. Go Pack!
