288 Caterpillar Scholar-Athletes Recognized for their Academic Achievements

During halftime of the NC State men’s basketball game on Tuesday, January 17, 288 Caterpillar Scholar-Athletes were recognized . These scholar-athletes earned a term grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall 2016 semester. Of the 288 student-athletes, 177 were on the dean’s list, 32 had a perfect 4.0 semester GPA, and four were ACC Postgraduate Honorary and Scholarship award nominees. NC State has the honor of leading the ACC in ACC Postgraduate Award winners.

On the court accompanying the student-athletes were Chancellor Dr. Randy Woodson, Director of Athletics, Dr. Debbie Yow, Vice Chancellor and Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Mike Mullen, Associate Director of Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes, Maulies Pettaway, Wolfpack Sports Properties Representative, Jim Moran, and Caterpillar Human Resource Manager, Lisa Adams

The Top Ten Scholar-Athletes were recognized individually.  In order for a student athlete to be honored as Top Ten, they must have been enrolled full-time at NC State for at least 5 semesters and have one of the ten highest total GPAs among all student-athletes.

Cheerleading team, majoring in industrial engineering with a 3.825 GPA

Mary Grace Doggett

Women’s cross country and track team, triple majoring in accounting, foreign languages and literature, and international studies with a 3.818 GPA

Anton Ipsen

Men’s swimming and diving team, majoring in industrial engineering with a 4.0 GPA

Kaitlyn Kramer

Women’s cross country and track team, completing her master’s in textile engineering with a 4.0 GPA

Chad Pyke

Wrestling team, majoring in business administration and minoring in accounting with a 3.825 GPA

Mikayla Raleigh

Cheerleading Team, majoring in biological sciences and minoring in business administration, Spanish, and sports science with a 4.0 GPA

Alyssa Rudawsky

Women’s cross country and track team, majoring in psychology with a 3.924 GPA

Aaron Thomas

Men’s cross country and track team, majoring in industrial engineering with a 4.0 GPA

Alec Thomas

Men’s cross country and track team, majoring in industrial engineering with a 4.0 GPA

Ashley Williams

Women’s basketball team, majoring in industrial engineering with a 3.952 GPA
